Here, you will join a specialist team dealing with clients from a specific industry, within which this firm is recognised as ‘broker of choice’ and it arranges insurance on behalf of some of the sector’s biggest and best known names. The clients’ vary significantly, some are more telephone based organisations and others are more akin to retailers. As such, you will be dealing with a variety of insurances, including Commercial Combined, Package, Commercial Motor and Financial Lines.

You will be working with a client allocation that reflects your experience, so we welcome applications from experienced Commercial Brokers who are confident in dealing with more complex clients paying six figure premiums, or Personal Lines Account Handlers who want to make their first move into commercial and start dealing with SME style risks.

For experienced Commercial Brokers, the role will be similar to any generalist handling position; building rapport with clients and an understanding of their businesses, scrutinising their existing arrangements and ensuring their programme matches their needs, negotiating with insurers and the like.

For Personal Lines Account Handlers, the role will be more process driven at first. Whilst you are building your commercial insurance product knowledge, you will be responsible for updating various databases and registers, making sure information is inputted into the broking platform correctly, producing reports and dealing with any administration in a timely and compliant fashion. You will soon start to build up your exposure to clients and receive an allocation to take ownership of.

As well as relevant experience gained in either a Commercial or Personal Lines broking environment, it is essential that you are a team player who is keen to add to an already successful department. You must have excellent administration skills, be diligent and meticulous in your approach, with a keen eye for detail. You should also have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and be confident in your ability to build relations with clients from a variety of backgrounds. Ideally you will have knowledge of the Acturis platform.

In addition to a myriad of opportunities for progression and a personal development plan, you can expect to receive a basic salary (depending on experience) of between £18,000 and £28,000.
