Whilst this broker enjoys the support of one of the best-known networks (such as providing enhanced rates through superior buying power etc.), it is independent, directly authorised, and the MD has no intention of being acquired.

As such, this role will surely appeal to those insurance professionals wanting to do a ‘proper broking job’ and not be burdened unnecessarily with workplace dramas!

Here, you will assist in the smooth running of a varied portfolio of commercial clients from a wide range of industry sectors such as Electrical Contractors, Property Owners and the Professions. Clients range in size from SME’s through to more complex clients with turnovers in the tens of millions generating six figure premiums.

You will build a sound understanding of your clients’ businesses and exposures to risk, and ensure that their insurance programme reflects these. Where gaps in cover exist, you will suggest ancillary covers that mitigate these. You will also be responsible for making mid-term amendments, preparing renewals, collating reports and negotiating with insurers. As you would expect in such a close-knit team, you will be expected to ‘roll your sleeves up and pitch in’ with any duties – whether that’s doing the post run or someone else’s admin when they are tied up elsewhere.

It is essential that you are an experienced Commercial Account Handler who has a sound understanding of all common commercial covers such as Property, Liability, Fleet and Professional Indemnity etc. Ideally, this should include exposure to dealing with middle market clients with premiums in excess of £20K, although we do welcome applications from candidates who have only dealt with SME cases but are confident in stepping up to dealing with more complex risks. Whilst not a prerequisite, progression made towards professional qualifications would add weight to your application.
