Having personally held the Corporate Exec’ Team Leader role previously, the Branch MD of this global broker is understandably keen to ensure his replacement makes a great success of their appointment.

This is a superb opportunity to join a very successful corporate practice that is performing tremendously; continuing to deliver impressive growth via the acquisition of quality accounts and near double-digit returns on the existing portfolio.

Whilst the branch will transact some clients with earnings of £25K, more commonly accounts generate brokerage in excess of £40K, and some will deliver six-figure fees. Clients are from a wide range of industry sectors such as Life Sciences, Food & Beverage and Automotive. As you would expect, a number of the clients held have complex global exposures, and it also arranges the UK elements of cover for very large global companies based overseas.

This is a dual role, where you will manage a portfolio generating circa £400K income – this account can be tweaked to reflect your skills and ambitions, but it is likely to contain several big-ticket Technology risks.

You will also be responsible for managing 6 Corporate Account Executives, each controlling portfolios generating between £500,000 and £1000,000 income. It’s fair to describe this team as a ‘low maintenance’, high-performing, technical and motivated team of gifted insurance professionals, so the focus here is certainly more about ensuing their continued success as opposed to turning around a distressed office.

As such, you will conduct monthly one-to-ones, allocate workloads and discuss forthcoming renewals etc. You will ensure that colleagues remain challenged, motivated and focused on delivering exceptional service. You will also work with colleagues across the business (locally, nationally and globally) to ensure that colleagues and clients are educated to the vast array of specialist services on offer (such as Credit Insurance, Risk Management Services etc.).

We welcome applications from time-served managers, as well as those candidates who are confident in increasing their responsibilities. Whilst it is not essential that you have dealt with £100K income cases, in order to secure ‘buy in’ from colleagues and clients alike, it is essential that you have dealt with some corporate clients and have knowledge of all common commercial covers. As you would expect, progress towards professional qualifications under the CII would add weight to your application.
