This broker is one of the biggest names in the worlds of both Rural & High Net Worth insurance; it has a tremendous reputation for delivering exceptional client service and its unwavering focus on the quality of all its operations.

Having enjoyed a sustained period of growth, it has decided to expand its Yorkshire ‘Rural & HNW Insurance Centre of Excellence’ into fantastic new premises in Catterick. The new office has plenty of amenities nearby, and is a convenient commute for candidates from across North Yorkshire, Country Durham and Teesside.

Here, you will manage a designated portfolio of clients. This office deals with clients of varying size and complexity, from smallholders paying sub £1,000 premiums, through to estates boasting multimillion-pound private art collections with £250,000 premiums. As such, your clients could include self-employed Forestry Contractors, large farms, or HNW individuals who could be self-made business people or from ‘old money’.

Working closely with Directors and Account Executives, you will provide a high level of support including dealing with renewals, negotiating with Underwriters, handling mid-term amendments, and answering any day to day questions that clients may have. Somewhat unusually, in this office, the Account Handlers deal with any claims arising within their portfolio (aside from Motor files), so it really is a more varied role than many similarly-titled positions.

Whilst some insurance experience is a prerequisite, our client recognises that having ‘the right idea and right personality’ is more important than extensive familiarity with all the relevant risks. As such, whilst exposure to Rural, Agricultural and High Net Worth insurance would be ideal, we certainly welcome applications from personal lines and commercial insurance professionals from both a broking and underwriting background. As you could be dealing with a sole trader one call, and a member of the landed gentry the next, you need excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with clients from all walks of life. You must also be well-organised, diligent and have superb administration skills.

Our client is ideally looking for someone to work full time (09.00 – 17.00) but will maybe consider outstanding candidates who can make it to the office daily, but have slightly reduced hours.
