Whilst several players in the Yorkshire market are offering equity at the moment, a truly superb opportunity has arisen for an accomplished insurance professional to lead a thriving broking house and receive a meaningful shareholding from the very first day of employment.
Our client is a well-respected brokerage with bold ambitions for growth over the coming years. The branch comprises some very experienced, talented and well-qualified Account Executives, Brokers and Handlers. Here, you will be granted a great deal of autonomy in relation to shaping the future direction of the business, and it will be left to your discretion as to how this growth is achieved. That said, you will benefit from a high level of support from the parent company – this includes a robust, company-wide infrastructure, state of the art systems and processes, a large marketing budget including telesales (with the option to appoint your own lead generator locally), and significant buying power with a wide range of composite and specialist insurers.
You will be tasked with leading and developing all colleagues within the Yorkshire branch; creating a focus on growth through new business, as well as identifying ways to develop the existing portfolio by cross and up-selling ancillary covers. You will explore opportunities to create a mutually beneficial network of introducers within other areas of the professions, work with insurers on specialist campaigns, and come up with your own innovative new schemes.
Not really a player in the SME market, this branch takes pride in being the trusted advisor to clients generating commission and fees in excess of £5K, and most commonly far in excess of this. Clients are from a wide range of industry sectors, such as Property Owners, Manufacturers, Tech and Construction.
It is not a prerequisite that you are currently in a similar Branch Director position, and we welcome applications from Account Executives / Directors (ideally with some team leader or management experience), who are looking to take that next stage in their career. However, in order to be the regional ‘face’ of this business and secure the buy-in of clients and colleagues alike, you must have excellent knowledge of the insurance market, including all common covers. Progress made towards professional qualifications will certainly help in this regard.
Leading from the front, you will be expected to develop your own portfolio of commercial accounts. It is worth noting that our client will not entertain the notion of breaching covenants. It may however, come to a commercial arrangement with your current employer regarding buying books.
You must be charismatic, engaging and have the gravitas to communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels and individuals from all walks of life. As you will hold P&L responsibility, you will be expected to collate and analyse a variety of MI, and produce detailed reports for the CEO. Finally, you must recognise that the buck stops with you – this is your business to run, and this could mean anything from managing insurer relations to making sure the office doesn’t run out of tea bags! This is not an opportunity for a ‘nine to fiver’ who doesn’t want to roll their sleeves up and pitch in.
In return, alongside a lucrative basic salary, you will receive equity from the moment you join. This is a meaningful, well-documented and fair shareholding, with further equity to be gained once determined triggers are hit. Other perks include bonuses to reward shorter-term performance, company car / allowance and generous pension. You will also benefit from the support of other Directors within the business, as there is fantastic inter-branch camaraderie at all levels.
