For several years now, this global broker has been recognised as the market-leader when it comes to flexible working. It has embraced more modern working practices, for example providing all staff with a laptop and mobile phone (regardless of their role profile or seniority) so they can adapt their work around their own circumstances and achieve the much sought-after work/ life balance. As such, the company has been able to swiftly respond to the challenges of lockdown, causing the minimum amount of disruption to clients or colleagues alike.
This broker controls one of the biggest portfolios in the North West, including some of the region’s most prestigious firms – from blue chip PLC’s through to privately-owned companies run by self-made business people. Clients are from a wide range of industry sectors, such as Retail, Food & Beverage, Engineering and Technology. As you would expect, many of these firms have extensive overseas operations that require input from insurance professionals in a number of territories. The branch also looks after the ‘reverse flow’ business pertaining to the UK programmes of very large organisations that have head offices abroad.
The need has arisen for an additional Account Handler to join the friendly and supportive team. Here, you will be responsible for the day to day servicing of existing accounts. It is likely to be a varied portfolio that you will be working on, although there is scope to tweak your allocation depending on your skills, experience and ambitions. You will work alongside Account Executive, Directors and Brokers and deal with mid-term amendments, prepare a variety of reports and associated documentation, and deal with any general enquiries. You will scrutinise the businesses within your portfolio, evaluating their exposure to risk, and where gaps in cover exist, educate them as to how best mitigate these.
Whilst you need not be currently dealing exclusively with corporate risks paying fees of £10K-£100K it is essential that you have some exposure to middle-market clients generating brokerage income of say £5K+. It is essential that you understand all the common commercial covers and are comfortable in dealing with clients from a variety of industry sectors. Ideally, you will have made some progress towards professional qualifications under the CII.
It is essential that you are a confident, articulate communicator who is able to manage relationships with stakeholders from a variety of walks of life. You must also be well-organised, able to prioritise a number of tasks, and have a keen eye for detail.
This role will be a remote-working position initially, and is likely to have a high degree of flexibility in the longer-term. However, it is essential that you live close enough to be able to attend meetings in Manchester city centre occasionally (sometimes at relatively short notice).
You will benefit from a completely negotiable basic salary and one of the best ‘flexible benefits’ packages in the industry. You will also receive a high level of support towards professional qualifications (such as paid for exams, literature and memberships, as well as ‘inhouse training academies). For the ambitious, this broker is well-known for promoting from within and boasts a myriad of opportunities for progression (locally, nationally and across the globe!). It is entirely feasible that you could progress into a range of roles such as Managerial, Sales, Operations or Account Executive roles.
