Due to the forthcoming retirement of a senior member of the team, this respected, Chartered broker is seeking an Account Executive, who shares its commitment to delivering the highest levels of professionalism and client service, to inherit a mixed portfolio of commercial accounts (£200K income).

As an experienced Account Executive, you will be granted a great deal of autonomy on how you run your desk (for example, you need not check into the office daily). However, as a senior member of the team, you will work in close conjunction with Directors and could be asked to undertake extra responsibilities; for example, being tasked to work on various projects and initiatives. As such, this is
quite a high-profile role within the firm and your successes will be obvious to your colleagues. It is entirely feasible that this position could lead to a managerial role in the medium-term.

You will assume control of a long-established portfolio of commercial clients based across Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. These clients are from a wide selection of industry sectors, both blue and white collar, and range from smaller connected commercial accounts through to much larger corporate clients generating six- figure gross written premiums.

Developing a sound understanding of your clients’ businesses, you will design a robust insurance programme that mitigates their exposure to risk. You will negotiate with Underwriters to ensure you achieve comprehensive cover and competitive premiums on your clients’ behalves. You will be assisted in the day to day running of this portfolio with the support of several Account Handlers who will do a lot of the basic policy administration such as MTA’s, answering queries and issuing documentation. In addition, you will be tasked with developing the account through both cross-selling ancillary covers and services to existing clients, as well as securing new business through referrals and recommendations.

It is essential that you are an experienced Account Executive with a strong track record of managing the insurance programmes of clients from a wide selection of industry sectors, such as Manufacturing, Property Owners and the Professions. This should be backed up with a knowledge of all common commercial covers, such as Property, Liability and Financial Lines. As you would expect from a Chartered Broker, this firm is particularly keen to hear from those candidates who have made progress towards professional qualifications under the CII.
