“No dramas, no egos – just a pleasant environment where you can enjoy working amongst likeminded insurance professionals”, is how one of the Directors describes the culture of this reputable broking house.

This broker is a long-established name in the Yorkshire broking community, and its portfolio comprises companies from a wide range of industry sectors. That said, there is a bias towards ‘cleaner risks’ such as owner-managed businesses from the worlds of the Professions and Property Owners.

Due to the forthcoming retirement of a member of staff, our client requires an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join the team on a part-time basis. It anticipates having someone join for circa 20 hours a week and are quite open to how this could work; for example, working reduced hours five days a week or, two full days and then one shorter one.

Here, working in conjunction with Account Executives and Directors, you will assume day to day management of a portfolio of commercial clients such as Architects, IT Consultancies and Shops. Premiums will typically be up to £50K, but you may get the opportunity to deal with bigger clients if you have relevant experience. You may also deal with high net worth accounts connected to the commercial clients.

It is essential that you have extensive commercial insurance experience, ideally gained from within a broking environment, and knowledge of a range of insurance products such as Property, Liability, Commercial Combined, Package, Directors & Officers and Professional Indemnity. You must be easy to get along with, and confident in your ability to build relationships with stakeholders from all walks of life. You should be highly numerate, detail-orientated, and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). It is essential that you have excellent customer service skills, and pride yourself on your willingness to ‘go to the ends of the earth’ to ensure that all your clients obtain comprehensive cover at competitive premium. Whilst not essential, we welcome applications from candidates who have made some progress towards professional qualifications under the CII.

In return, you will receive a competitive basic salary (completely negotiable but likely to be pro rata based on a full-time equivalent salary in the mid to late twenty thousands), and a range of benefits, including support towards professional qualifications if desired.
