This is a superb opportunity for an experienced claims professional to join the Construction Practice of one of the world’s most respected brokers; an independent that continues to thrive in spite of the pandemic. Indeed, during the ‘lockdown’ it hasn’t made any redundancies or furloughed any staff globally, and is set to continue its decade long run of double-digit growth (locally, nationally and globally).

Its Construction Practice is headed by a strong management team comprising some of the most respected players in this fascinating, challenging niche. It recognises that in the Construction sector,
risk creates uncertainty that can increase costs, erode stakeholder confidence and hinder delivery of project goals. The firm develops highly sophisticated, bespoke insurance programmes and risk management strategies to reduce this uncertainty, giving their clients’ businesses a competitive advantage. As part of this ever-evolving process, the Construction Practice is enhancing its capabilities with the appointment of a Construction Claims Executive.

This broker has an enviable client portfolio, including some of the biggest names in the Real Estate & Construction sectors. In turn, you will be working on some of the highest profile, fascinating and challenging projects in the country, giving you the chance to stake your claim to some real ‘legacy assignments’. Here, you will provide day to day servicing of clients claims’ programme, serving as an advocate for their claims’ needs and ensuring the delivery of an exceptional client service through regular and close interaction with key stakeholders. Working with the support of a dedicated team of Claims Handlers, and in conjunction with Corporate Account Directors, you will build a detailed understanding of your clients, their claims histories and forthcoming projects. This will allow you to develop a bespoke claims procedure manual that covers everything from taking the initial notification of claims, through to settlement and beyond, creating meaningful MI and helping colleagues to design ever more effective insurance programmes.

You will play a key part in the management of relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders such as colleagues from across the brokerage (UK and overseas), as well as your contemporaries from the insurance company, adjusting and legal worlds. You will also gain the chance to contribute to RFP’s, when prospective clients need an insight into what sets this broker’s claims operation apart from the competition.

It is essential that you have previous experience of acting as a Claims Executive or Adjuster, and this should include significant exposure to Construction claims, coupled with a detail knowledge of the most common losses in this sector (such as CAR, TPL, DSU and EL). Ideally, this experience will have been gained within the London Insurance Market, and you will have previous exposure to using ECF.

It is also essential that you are upbeat, energetic and pride yourself on continually developing your own skillset and abilities. Due to the stakeholder engagement responsibilities within this role, you must also be an excellent communicator who is able to secure ‘buy-in’ from people of all walks of life, including at corporate C-Suite level.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (anticipated to be circa £65K, but negotiable for outstanding candidates) and a comprehensive, ‘flexible’ benefits package that can be tweaked to suit your own personal circumstances. You will also receive support towards professional qualifications and memberships.
