With its clear focus on delivering great client service, it’s fair to say this broker is one of the highest regarded brokers in the Yorkshire market; it is known for its ethics, supportive atmosphere, and the technical ability of its team. This hasn’t gone unnoticed in the industry press and barely a week seems to go by without them generating positive news headlines.

As a result of continued acquisition of quality accounts, the need has arisen to appoint extra ‘fire power’ to the Commercial Unit with an additional Senior Account Handler or Team Leader. This is an interesting role, where the finer points of the position can be tweaked to the successful candidate’s skills, experiences and ambitions. For example, we welcome applications from candidates who are currently working as a Commercial Account Handler and can step into a Senior Account Handler-style position. Alternatively, we are keen to hear from experienced Senior Handlers who can move into a Team Leader position. Whilst flexible, duties are likely to include allocating workloads, offering day to day support to colleagues, as well as acting as a technical referral point for complex queries, conducting appraisals, collating MI, attending management meetings, and helping with insurer relations.

In addition to managerial or supervisory duties, you will also be tasked with handling your own portfolio of commercial accounts, including those pertaining to one of the firm’s main Directors. This portfolio comprises clients ranging in size and complexity, with the larger accounts generating gross written premiums of circa £350K. Clients are from a range of industry sectors such as Contractors, Wholesalers and the Professions.

Whilst management experience is not a prerequisite, it is essential that you have a good grounding in commercial insurance (gained with a broker or insurer). This should include knowledge of all common commercial covers including Property, Liability, Commercial Combined, D&O and Professional Indemnity. You must also be a real team player who can demonstrate an enthusiasm for helping to foster a supportive, ‘team centric’ environment, and shares this broker’s passion for delivering excellent client service.

Whilst not essential, progresses towards professional qualifications would certainly add weight to your application.
