This respected firm is unique in that, sitting in the heart of Skipton town centre, it controls the largest portfolio in the Dales and very much retains the ethos of a community broker, yet it is backed by one of the biggest names in the insurance market.

Having had a presence in North Yorkshire for many years, it has been known as ‘broker of choice’ locally for generations, and since being acquired by a ‘global’ several years ago, its clients have started to benefit from the parent company’s buying power, infrastructure and processes. This acquisition has been very well received, and the branch has achieved phenomenal results (both in terms of portfolio growth and retention) in recent years.

As a result of the continued acquisition of quality accounts, the need has arisen to appoint an additional Commercial Account Executive to join the team. Here, you will inherit a portfolio of clients, the exact nature of which can be tweaked to suit your skills, experiences and ambitions. The portfolio could stand as large as £200K in commission and fee income, with individual accounts ranging from around £5K-£100K GWP, right up to corporates with premium spends of several hundred thousand pounds. Clients are based across Yorkshire and Lancashire, with some potentially even further afield. Accounts are from a range of industry sectors such as Manufacturing, Contracting and Engineering.

The focus of this role is very much on the management of the existing portfolio, so you will not be burdened with unrealistic new business targets. That said, you will be encouraged to be alert to opportunities to grow the portfolio through cross and up-selling opportunities.

Ideally, you will currently be working as an Account Executive, but we welcome applications from talented Account Handlers who are ready to take that next step in their career. Whilst exposure to dealing with six-figure premium risks is not a prerequisite, you must be comfortable dealing with clients paying up to and in excess of £20K GWP.

You must be au fait with all common commercial covers, and pride yourself on your ability to build rapport with clients from a wide range of industry sectors, as well as other internal and external stakeholders. You must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be comfortable negotiating with insurers in order to secure your clients the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums.

Whilst not essential, you will ideally have made some progress towards professional qualifications under the CII.
