Due to internal promotion, this global broking powerhouse seeks an additional Corporate Account Handler to join its Manchester city centre branch; a much respected and technically-astute team comprising some of the most gifted insurance professionals in the North West.
Whilst the division handles some £15K income cases, generally speaking accounts within the branch’s portfolio generate income in excess of several times this figure. At the other end of the scale, the branch deals with some of the largest accounts in the Manchester market, including £500K fee income clients. The office also controls a lot of reverse flow business, often pertaining to some very well-known and complex businesses. Clients are from a wide range of industry sectors such a Petrochemicals, Tech, Manufacturing and Wholesale, many of which have complex global exposures.
You will work in close conjunction with Account Executives and Account Directors, and be responsible for the day-to-day management of a portfolio of corporate clients. This will include preparing renewals, scrutinising programmes to ensure clients are adequately covered, and negotiating with insurers.
Your client allocation will depend on your current skills and technical abilities. For example, whilst most Account Handlers in the team look after portfolios generating circa £400K, including some very large cases, there is scope to give a smaller caseload, comprising less complex risks, to more junior candidates.
As such, it is not essential that you are currently dealing with £50K-£100K fee income cases, so we wish to hear from middle market Account Handlers dealing with sub £15K accounts. We also welcome applications from outstanding P&C Underwriters and Claims professionals who are confident in their ability to move into the corporate broking arena.
You must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and be able to build a professional rapport with all stakeholders, negotiate with insurers, and produce a variety of documentation. You must be numerate, with superb attention to detail, and you’ll take real pride in the quality of your work.
Whilst progress towards professional qualifications would be advantageous, it is by no means essential.

Our client is based in Manchester city centre, and anticipates that they will only need you in the office a couple of times a week generally. As such, this role could suit candidates from across the North West or in to Yorkshire.
