This broker is one of the largest on the global stage, and has a long and proud history in Yorkshire. For many years, it has controlled the insurance programmes of many of the region’s largest, publicly-listed and privately-owned firms, and its branches across this region are continuing to grow, both organically and through the acquisition of quality new accounts.

The Sheffield branch acts as the regional SME Hub, typically dealing with clients with annual premium spends up to £10K, and accounts are traded both electronically, and more traditionally, by negotiating with Underwriters at a panel of insurers. You will use your rapport building skills to develop relationships with a portfolio of clients, ensuring that policies are renewed, as well as undertaking mid-term amendments and dealing with any day to day enquires that may arise throughout the year.

Taking a thorough review of each of your clients’ specific circumstances, you will scrutinise their insurance requirements and ensure that the correct cover is in place in a timely and efficient fashion. You will also be required to help prepare a variety and reports and documentation, all the while ensuring work is undertaken compliantly.

We welcome applications from candidates from all insurance disciplines, including those currently working in an SME Account Handling capacity, as well as those in personal lines or underwriting, who are keen to move into commercial broking. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for developing their own technical knowledge of commercial insurance and commit to ongoing learning, including studying for professional qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute.

You must have an excellent telephone manner and, given the wide range of clients, you will pride yourself on your ability to build a professional rapport and explain complex financial matters to people from all walks of life. You must also be numerate, competent with a variety of IT packages, and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). Whilst you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, you should be a team player and willing to help with colleagues’ accounts when needs be.

Our client is based just outside of Sheffield in pleasant offices with ample parking, close to the motorway and main arterial roads. At present, it’s operating with employees working flexibly, and a similar approach is likely to remain for the long-term. As such, this role is likely to appeal to candidates from across Yorkshire and East Midlands.
