“We’re talking balance sheet deciders and share price movers here”, says this Global Broker’s hiring manager when discussing the magnitude of claims handled in this challenging new role.

This specialist division looks after some of the biggest companies on the planet; household names from the worlds of finance, media & tech, automotive and construction. With such complex exposures and multi-million dollar premium spends, they rightfully expect a “concierge level of service” across all aspects of their insurance programme. Accordingly, this broker has drawn together a dedicated claims function comprising some of the most gifted insurance professionals from all corners of the claims arena, including lawyers, insurers, brokers and loss adjusters.

Here, you will be responsible for managing the strategy, process, and ultimately the successful outcome, of a caseload of financial lines claims (predominantly D&O and Professional Indemnity losses), typically arising from within financial institutions and other areas of the professions (law, consultancy, tech etc). The majority of clients are domiciled in North America, but could be based anywhere in the world.

Your duties will include:

Providing advice and guidance on coverage, and performing analysis of coverage-related issues to facilitate the settlement and conclusion of claims.

Carefully handling the claims negotiation process with clients, underwriters and /or their appointed legal representatives.

Facilitating the resolution of any outstanding coverage issues.

Proactively anticipating and presenting to clients the best strategy to resolve the claim.

Coordinating discussions and, where appropriate, meetings to ensure outstanding levels of communication between the client, underwriter and their representatives concerning the proposed settlement.

It is essential that you have extensive knowledge of Directors’ and Officers’ claims, plus a sound understanding of the wider financial lines claims landscape. You should also be a natural problem-solver with a genuine passion for achieving the best possible outcomes for your clients following a loss. This includes having negotiation and dispute resolutions skills, coupled with your knowledge of wordings/ claims coverage issues. Given the nature of clients within this division’s portfolio, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be confident in your ability to secure the ‘buy-in’ of clients from a variety of stakeholders, including senior personnel at multi-billion dollar turnover companies across the globe.

In return, you can expect to receive a highly competitive basic salary, designed to attract the highest calibre claims professionals from across the insurance and legal markets. You will also benefit from a car allowance, 15% bonus, and ultimately, the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment where progression is only limited by your ambition.

This dynamic broker is an advocate of flexible-working, and is happy for you to attend your local office once or twice a week (with only occasional, and fully-funded trips to the Head Office in the City required).
