This is a highly visible role, with far-reaching influence within this global broker’s corporate business across the North of England.
You will play a key part in driving the service proposition to help set the business aside from the competition. Working with numerous Heads of Office on strategy, this will include everything from looking at specific cases’ points of vulnerability, through to how to best achieve marginal gains or change cultural mindsets across the business. From how the business responds to RFP’s, through to reviewing the processes around defensive exercises for accounts under attack, you will identify areas where changes can be made that will create the biggest impact. As a member of the Regional Senior Management Team, you will evaluate the current servicing offering and provide feedback and suggestions to Branch Leadership.
In addition, you will be responsible for acting as the Account Guardian on a small number of trophy accounts, including FTSE100 companies and some of the region’s largest privately-owned firms. Your expertise and gravitas in the market will also be called upon on an ad-hoc basis; for example, helping less-experienced colleagues with new business pitches, or helping to defend accounts under attack.
Whilst this is by no means a role with personal new business targets attributed to it, you will be expected to help drive growth. As such, you will share best practice around business development or internal networking skills, ensuring the specialist internal teams are utilized at all suitable opportunities.
It is essential that you are a senior insurance professional with a sound understanding of all common commercial covers. Whilst it is envisioned that you will likely come from a broking environment with high-pedigree Account Executive skills, we do welcome applications from outstanding candidates from an Underwriting environment. You need not have prior experience of dealing with six-figure income or global accounts, but it is essential that you have dealt with complex cases generating more than £50K income. Similarly, your approach to client management must be hyper-strategic, as opposed to a more transactional mindset.
You must have the confidence, gravitas and communication skills to present effectively to the C-Suite of blue-chip PLCs, together with the ability to secure buy-in from stakeholders across the insurance industry. You should have a highly inquisitive and analytical mindset, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills. Needless to say, you should be a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working to shared goals and objectives.
In return, you will receive a generous basic salary and lucrative bonus. This broker is well-known for its market-leading, flexible benefits package that can be tweaked to your own personal circumstances, and of particular merit is its extremely generous pension arrangement. As this is a high-profile role, your success will be obvious to all (including this broker’s UK Board), and so you will benefit from a myriad of attractive opportunities for progression in the medium to longer-term.
