Our client is a leading insurer that is looking for a Marine Cargo Underwriter to join its team in Leeds.

You will be dealing with both new and existing Marine Cargo and Freight risks and liaising with a wide range of brokers throughout the North. You will handle premium levels dependent on your experience, although you will be given the necessary training to deal with larger cases in due course. You’ll enjoy working alongside some of the most talented Marine specialists in the market, who will support your ongoing professional development and you will have exposure to a wide range of business and some of the most coveted Marine accounts.
To be considered for this role, you must be an experienced Marine Underwriter, with a solid technical understanding of Marine Cargo and Freight. Just as importantly, you will possess a trader’s mentality and a genuine passion for retaining and securing profitable new business. Existing broker relationships would certainly add weight to your application, although this is by no means essential. As expected with this type of role, you must be able to display good attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability build and maintain strong working relationships.
In return, you will receive an excellent remuneration package, including attractive company benefits. This role will initially be on a 12-month fixed term basis, with a genuine possibility of it being made permanent for the right individual.
