A terrific opportunity for an experienced insurance leader to secure a meaningful equity stake in a successful brokerage.
Having, over several decades, forged a respected a respected brokerage that continually delivers handsome profits, the incumbent MD now seeks to realise the fruits of his labour. Shunning the repeated approaches of the consolidators, his exit-strategy is centred on seeking a meaningful partnership with a new business partner, as opposed to acquisition.
The exact nature and duration of his departure is completely flexible, but it is likely that you will join as the MD’s ‘right hand person’- assuming a seat on the Board, management responsibilities of all colleagues, and a completely transparent roadmap of how you will build up increasing levels of equity.
Your brief will be to ‘take the business to the next level’ whilst ensuring the retention of longstanding staff and loyal clients. To aid you, you will spend a great deal of time with the MD in coming years, getting to know the business ‘from the inside out’ and being introduced to their network. This includes key clients and business introducers, many of whom have been close friends for many years.
Whilst you will also ultimately be responsible for a smaller, attached Financial Services business, this is run by an experienced IFA. As such, your primary focus will be the smooth running of the brokerage. This business has a varied portfolio of clients spanning a wide range of industry sectors, as well as a small personal lines book (typically commercially-connected).
The incumbent MD is genuinely committed to giving you a great deal of autonomy, and particularly welcomes applications from enterprising insurance professionals who are confident about challenging the status quo. As such, we welcome applications from candidates who can suggest innovative solutions to client demands in today’s broker market.
It is essential that you have a strong track record within commercial broking, and a detailed knowledge of all common commercial covers. You will have well-honed managerial skills and a demonstrable track record of success within development orientated positions. Whilst you will be shown the nuances of the business and its financial operations, you must have a great deal of commercial acumen and a flair for enterprise.
As you will be assuming the role of company ambassador moving forward, you must be professional, presentable, well-spoken and articulate. It is anticipated that you have a host of your own professional contacts, as well as a considerable amount of influence in the insurer market.
