Operating out of virtually every territory on the planet, this prestigious broking house is recognised as one of the world’s leading players in the Marine Insurance niche.

Providing Broking and Consultancy services to Shipping and Maritime businesses across the globe, its specialist Marine division is well known throughout the industry for the technical expertise of its team. The Manchester office controls an impressive portfolio, with its client list including well-known names including Ship Owners & Operators, Heavy Lift & Specialist Ships, Ports & Terminals, Ship Builders & Repairers and Oilfield Services companies, to name but a few.

As Head of Marine Broking, you will assume control of a small team of motivated, professional and well-regarded Marine Insurance Brokers. Your duties will include managing the day to day activities of the Marine Team, including allocating workloads, managing performance, and ensuring all work complies with in-house procedures, protocols and FCA regulations.

You will provide technical guidance and support to the Broking Team across all Marine classes, as well as working with client-facing Account Executives and Directors to ensure that maximum product penetration, revenue, retention and growth is achieved. As well as placing business with colleagues in the in-house MGA, you will also be expected to secure the most comprehensive deals with Underwriters, both locally and in The City / London markets.

This broker transacts all Marine classes, including but not limited to, Marine Liabilities, Property, Machinery, Freight Forwarders, Stock Throughput, Loss of Hire and Business Interruption. It is essential that you have a sound technical knowledge across multiple lines, specifically including Cargo, Hull and Freight. In addition, as you would expect, you will have a high degree of industry awareness in order to assist with market reviews and comparisons.

With the focus on this role being very much on technical skills, it is not essential that you have previously worked formally as a ‘Line Manager’. However, it is expected that you have had some experience of working in a senior capacity, such as previously acting as a technical referral point or mentoring less experienced colleagues. You must also be confident in your ability to lead and inspire a team, ensuring that a high level of client service is provided and that work is carried out to the highest quality, accurately and on time.

In return, you will receive a highly competitive basic salary, and a ‘high grade’ car or car allowance, plus an impressive range of flexible company benefits.
