Our client is one of the biggest names in the world of insurance, and having traded many years in Liverpool, is deeply committed to the city. It is well-known locally for its friendly and supportive environment, as well as the fantastic opportunities for progression on offer to all its colleagues.

Its thriving SME Team is based near the Baltic Triangle in the city centre, so is close to main arterial roads and local rail network. With ample parking nearby, it is a feasible commute to candidates from across Merseyside.

Here, you will help in the management of a diverse portfolio of commercial accounts. Clients are from a range of industry sectors (such as Property Owners, Retail, Leisure, Engineering and Motor Trade), typically paying premiums to £10K.

You will be responsible for dealing with clients at renewal, handling mid-term amendments and answering any questions that arise within the policy life cycle. You will be expected to help with reports, issuing documentation in a timely and efficient manner, and dealing with any necessary administration. Whilst this is by no means a business development job, and you will have no personal sales target, you will be expected to be alert to cross and up-selling opportunities.

It is essential that you have some commercial insurance knowledge, gained from either a broking or underwriting capacity. Ideally, you will have made some progress towards professional qualifications under the CII, although this is not a ‘deal breaker.’ Preferably, you will have some knowledge of the Acturis broking platform, but again this is not essential.

You should also have a great phone manner; polite, personable, business-like and able to get on with clients from all walks of life and every industry sector. In order to thrive in fast-paced environment, you should be well-organised with strong task management skills. You should also be very thorough, with a keen eye for detail. In order to help design robust insurance programmes for your clients, you should have strong questioning skills, and be able to quickly build an understanding of clients’ needs and the issues that affect their businesses.

In return, you will receive a completely negotiable basic salary, and a comprehensive array of benefits that include support towards professional qualifications. As mentioned earlier, you will also benefit from excellent opportunities for progression - this firm has promoted many of its colleagues from such positions into technical and managerial roles, both locally and UK-wide.
