Working in the thriving SME Team, you will be allocated a portfolio of commercial accounts that typically generate commission and fee income of up to £2,000 per annum. Clients are from a range of industry sectors such as Property Owners, Leisure, Motor Trade, Engineering, Manufacturing and Distribution. You will be responsible for maintaining relations with your clients throughout the policy life cycle, including answering day to day enquires, administering mid-term amendments and dealing with renewals. Whilst this is certainly not a business development role, you will be encouraged to identify cross and up-selling opportunities. You will also be responsible for negotiating with Underwriters on your clients’ behalf, ensuring you obtain the most comprehensive cover at a competitive premium.

It is essential that you have a sound understanding of commercial insurance, gained in either a broking or underwriting capacity. This should ideally include knowledge of a range of commercial covers, including Commercial Combined, Package, Property, Liability and Fleet. You must be bright, articulate and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). You should also be well-organised, meticulous in your approach and with strong administration skills.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary that is likely to be in the region of £20K - £27K, plus pension and other benefits such as support towards CII exams and memberships. Our client has parking on site and due to the proximity of main arterial roads is a convenient commute for candidates based across Leeds and large parts of Yorkshire. For candidates with a little more experience, it is worth noting that this broker is also recruiting in its Commercial and Corporate Departments, and these roles are likely to carry salaries of up to £50K.
