Aston Charles is delighted to have been retained to assist in the appointment of an Insurance Manager to join its specialist Automotive business. This profitable business already has 2 million customers to its name and exciting partnerships in place with some of the biggest names in the automotive industry, including some of the world’s best-known brands.

As the In-house Insurance Manager, you will be responsible for realising this firm’s bold ambitions for developing effective, innovative and hassle-free insurance products. Initially, this will be within the Automotive business, but with scope to expand across the wider group.

This includes developing and delivering winning strategies and products in the different markets you are responsible for, to meet different customer needs. This involves working with and through our client’s regulated insurance entity and third-party insurers, as well as Product and Operational teams.

Day-to-day commercial decision making will be key to being successful in the role. This includes pricing, promotion, and quality levers. It may also involve negotiating with third parties from time to time to deliver customer and financial targets across multiple jurisdictions.

The investments our client is making in the division bring the opportunity to help develop and build a dedicated Insurance Team. This will include developing existing ways of working, and building new ones, in particular, improving our clients’ risk-based pricing approaches. Naturally, all this needs to be done in a way that complies with all external and internal insurance regulations and policies.

You must possess the ability to think strategically about products and markets to grow and improve the customer proposition. You must also have first-class commercial problem solving, analysis and decision-making abilities, with proven capability to take high levels of ownership and accountability, and operate independently. As one would expect, you must also have extremely impressive credentials within the insurance industry, including a history of developing and delivering innovative insurance products. Ideally, this should include some experience of P&L responsibility.
