With the office’s SME Team enjoying phenomenal growth, it has decided to invest significantly in the Harrogate branch and create a “SME Centre of Excellence” to cater for the insurance requirements of small to medium-sized businesses. As such, the need has arisen for a number of Client Service Advisors (Commercial Insurance Account Handlers) to join the thriving SME Team.

Here, you will be allocated your own portfolio of SME clients, with accounts varying in size (up to circa £10K in premium), from a range of industry sectors such as Leisure, Offices, Tradespeople and Retail. You will build a sound professional rapport with these clients, in order to develop an understanding of their businesses, and help create an insurance programme that best suits their needs.

You will help administer any changes to their insurance policies (such as adding a vehicle to their motor fleet), issue documentation, or answer any day to day queries that may arise. You will also negotiate with insurers to secure your clients the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums. Needless to say, as the financial services industry is so heavily regulated, you will have to ensure that all advice given, and work undertaken, complies with FCA regulations.

It is by no means essential that you have prior experience of working within insurance, but we would expect candidates to come from other professional industries where there is a focus on delivering outstanding customer service (such as Financial Services, Utilities, Estate Agency, Legal Services etc.) You must also be well-organised, meticulous in your approach, and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

You will benefit from an intensive inhouse training programme that will provide you with a great understanding of the commercial insurance market, and the various lines of cover that small businesses typically require (such as Property, Liability, Fleet and Professional Indemnity insurance). You will also receive an ongoing and bespoke training programme, which will include support towards professional formal qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute. In the medium and longer term, you will benefit from outstanding career development opportunities - previous employees of this office have gone on to forge fantastic careers locally, nationally, and globally, by pursuing a variety of managerial, sales and technical roles.

This role comes with a negotiable salary that is expected to be in the region of £20K - £23K. For candidates with insurance industry experience, there are several Senior Client Service Advisor roles paying to circa £30K. For more information, please contact Aston Charles Ltd.

This role is based at an office park just outside of Harrogate town centre, which has ample onsite parking and is close to the main transportation links. Working hours – Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
