This long-established broker prides itself on traditional broking values; technical expertise coupled with first rate client service. A family-run firm going back many generations, it has looked after the insurance of some of its clients for decades.

However, despite its proud heritage, this firm has not failed to move with the times. For example, it has a strong presence on social media and produces regular entertaining and informative blogs to help educate clients and prospects alike. This ‘best of both worlds’ approach is certainly working well, and the firm continues to win a large volume of clients whilst enjoying phenomenal retention rates with existing clients.

Indeed, it is due to the growth of the branch portfolio that the need has arisen for a Commercial Account Manager to join the team. Here, you will have higher levels of client interaction than a more traditional Account Handler role, including visiting clients and prospects on site (solo and with the Directors) to build rapport and conduct fact finds etc. You will also be heavily involved in insurer negotiations, whether this be administering straightforward mid-term amendments, dealing with a big renewals, or marketing new business cases.

This broker deals with clients from a wide range of industry sectors, including Science & Tech, Wholesalers and the Professions. Clients vary in size and complexity, but it’s worth noting that you will be dealing with a large number of cases with six-figure premium spends.

It is essential that you have a knowledge of a variety of commercial covers including Property, Liability, PI, D&O, Cyber, Fleet etc. An increasing number of the clients are expanding their operations to include selling products abroad so, whilst not essential, some exposure to dealing with overseas markets (for example, understanding the nuances of dealing with different brokers in different States in the US) would add significant weight to your application.

You must be a good communicator, computer literate and able to put together a variety of reports and documentation. You must be diligent and meticulous in your approach, understanding the importance of attention to detail. You should also be a team player who is happy to go to the extra mile for clients and colleagues alike.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (anticipated to be up to £40K but negotiable for outstanding candidates) and a range of company benefits.
