In this exciting investment hire, one of the biggest names in the global insurance market seeks to appoint a Corporate Account Director to join its Leeds branch in a senior position.
A household name in its own right, this broker arranges insurance on behalf of some of the world’s best-known brands and its client portfolio is certainly one of the largest in Yorkshire. Accounts include a large number of six-figure fee income cases, including blue-chip PLC’s from a range of sectors such Life Sciences, Technology, Construction and Retail. Many clients have complex overseas exposures, and the office also arranges the UK coverage of some global businesses that have head offices overseas.
This is a senior role within the business, and you will be tasked with assuming control of some of the branch’s most prestigious accounts. Here, you will develop a sound understanding of your clients’ businesses, the sectors in which they operate, and their approach to risk. You will design an insurance programme that reflects the above, and where gaps in cover exist, highlight these and suggest ancillary covers that mitigate any exposures. You will be supported by gifted Broking & Handling team locally, as well as a host of specialist teams based across the globe that deal in niche lines (such a Cyber, Aviation, Credit Insurance etc).
As one would expect, you must be highly professional, articulate and have the communication skills to be able to secure ‘buy-in’ from Board level individuals ranging from the FD’s of FTSE 100 companies through to self-made business people that control huge privately-owned corporate entities. In order to secure your clients the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums, you must be comfortable negotiating with insurers on multi-million pound premium deals.
As a senior member of the team, yours will be a highly visible role and will involve mentoring less-experienced colleagues, allocating workloads to support colleagues and acting a company ambassador in the local market. The focus on this role is very much on the ongoing growth and retention of a longstanding portfolio of corporate risks, but you will also be encouraged to win new business when the opportunity arises.
As you would expect, you will need to be au fait with all common commercial covers and, whilst not essential, it is anticipated that you have made significant progress towards professional qualifications under the CII.
