The firm is enjoying a period of continued growth, both organically and through the acquisition of new business (typically generated by recommendations from existing clients). As such, the need has arisen to appoint an additional Account Handler to join the Commercial Team. As evidence of the effectiveness of the aforementioned bespoke development plans, our client can give examples of colleagues who have joined this team in a similar capacity and have progressed on to technical, managerial or sales / client-facing positions within the business.
Here, you will be responsible for working in conjunction with Account Executives, dealing with a portfolio of commercial accounts, with clients coming from a range of industry sectors such as Property Owners, Manufacturers, Retail and the Professions. Depending on your background, your client allocation could range in premium size from £500 to £100,000 and, for really experienced candidates, you may get the chance to manage some SME clients as a ‘Desk Top Account Executive’, taking full responsibility for the smooth running of the account.
Your duties will include keeping in regular contact with clients, answering any mid-term amendments, dealing with any general enquiries regarding cover and preparing renewals. You will be required to enter risk information onto computer systems, and also deal with a range of external stakeholders such as insurance company Underwriters.
It is essential that you are from a commercial insurance background, ideally dealing with multiple commercial covers such as Property, Liability, D&O and Commercial Combined. You must be friendly, approachable and be able to get on with clients from all walks of life. You should also have a natural curiosity about business, be able to have professional conversations, and build an understanding of the risks different clients face. You should also be numerate, have a keen eye for detail, and excellent data entry skills.
