We are delighted to be partnering with this world-leading insurance company that is seeking a Development Underwriter within its highly successful Financial Lines team.
This company is well-renowned for providing innovative insurance solutions, and uses its ingenuity to insure risks that others can’t. The business is growing substantially, year on year, and this new role has been created to help achieve the growth targets for its Financial Lines proposition.
As Development Underwriter, you’ll be required to source new business opportunities within your region, underwriting Professional and Management risks (including Technology) within your defined underwriting authority. You’ll have a strong desire to be highly visible to brokers, encouraging development meetings and telephone contact. As well as leveraging your own relationships within the broker market, you’ll also work closely with the Development Director to secure profitable new relationships. Specific duties will include, but not be limited to, underwriting individual risks, identifying and securing scheme opportunities, attending networking events, and providing input to the Head of Financial Lines reporting on broker activity and new business production,
You’ll benefit from working for a company that has a truly entrepreneurial approach to underwriting, and a genuine desire to write business. For example, should you identify an attractive Financial Lines risk that is not usually underwritten by this division, you will have the opportunity to present your case to a panel for approval, as well as collaborating with other specialist teams across the business.
This is a company that is passionate about sharing the success, and rewarding its employees for their hard work. “We want to pay our Development Underwriters bigger and bigger bonuses”, says the Director, and in line with this, you will benefit from a highly attractive performance-related bonus scheme.
It's essential that you have a successful track record of underwriting Professional Indemnity and Directors and Officers insurance. Ideally, you will have experience in a broker-facing role, although we will consider applications from New Business / Trading Underwriters who are ready to step into a broking-facing role. Crucially, you will have a proven ability to win business whilst maintaining underwriting discipline, and as a company ambassador, you will possess first-class communication and client-management skills.
“I want to stress that this is NOT a dead-end underwriting job”, says the Director. “We are focused on retaining and developing our staff, and ultimately, there are many areas that this role could progress into, such as Technical, Leadership, Product Line Management, and much more.
You’ll be rewarded with an attractive basic salary of up to £80K (Potentially negotiable for outstanding candidates), plus a lucrative bonus scheme and impressive corporate benefits, which include substantial pension contributions.
